Early Sherman M4A3E8 Vignette by Stew Langenbeck

A contest winner for Stew, taking First Place in the 1/35th scale "Open Hatch/Open Top Hatch" category in the November 7, 2021, Cleveland Model Contest 24.

Stew combined Tamiya's M4A3E8, Tank Workshop's T23 turret, AFV Club wheels and working suspension, Academy's M-18 breech, CMK's M4A1 turret detail set (modified) and Academy M3 Grant interior detail parts (whew!) to model "Flat Foot Floogie" (i.e. hooker with flat feet.) She was the first U.S. tank to reach the Rhine River.

Some of the work done on the model included modifying the Tamiya hull to accept the AFV Club suspension, scratch building the armor plate on the hull and turret, and adding casting number decals.

Stew scratch built an engine compartment before realizing that radiator baffles/shroud covered the engine. The vehicle was primed with Model Master  spray and hand painted with a variety of olive drab tones.
