T34 ARV by Chan Jackson

 Chan combined the ancient Zvezda T34 kit with a DEF Model conversion set to create this T34 armored recovery vehicle. He painted it with the AK Russian Paint Set and weathered it with pigments and oils.

The figure on the vehicle is Tamiya with a resin head. The standing figure is a Pegaso offering. Both were painted with Vallejo acrylics.

M2A4 Stuart by Chan Jackson

 This model of a Marine M2A4 used on Guadalcanal is Chan's first 3D printed model. The kit from SS Models/Yao Models offered good fit at the cost of considerable cleanup of parts and very delicate track links. 

The tank was painted with Tamiya and AK paints and weathered with the usual pigments and oils.

The figure is from Scale 75 and the stowage is Value Gear.

Chan says he liked the kit but is not sure he will tackle another resin kit due to the steep price tag and delicacy of the small parts which were easily broken.

Romanian R-2 SPG by Chan Jackson

 Chan' s build of the old ICM kit of the Czech Skoda Takam R-2 self-propelled tank destroyer in Romanian makings. 

The model was painted with Tamiya and AK paints and weathered with Mig and Soil Works (Scale 75) pigments and weathering products. 

The infantry figures are Evolution and the crew pieced together from several old figures in the spares collection.

The R-2 SPG was built by removing the turret of the R-2 light tank (a slightly modified Panzer 35(t) and building a pedestal to mount a Soviet 76.2mm Zis-3 field gun in its place. The Romanians produced fewer than 24of the machines.  The major problem they faced was procuring enough ammunition for the gun.

T34-122 (T-122) by Chan Jackson

This is the 2001 boxing of Maquette's 1/35th T-122.  It came with a nicely done resin turret but suffered from excessive flash and some very thick parts. The individual track links were thick and fit poorly so Chan borrowed a set of link and length track from a Trumpeter kit.

Chan painted the kit with Krylon primer and Tamiya acrylics for the camouflage scheme and modulation effects. Mig and AK enamels, oils, and pigments were used to weather the model.

The figure is a VLS Warriors offering painted with Vallejos acrylics. 

M3 Stuart With Quad 50 by Chan Jackson

 This unique vehicle (along with a rocket launcher version) represents modifications Brazil made to three M3/M5's which they used well into the 1980's.  The model is a kit bash of Tamiya's M3 and the quad 50 gun is from their M16 halftrack.

The kit was painted with Tamiya and AK paints. The figure carrying the ammo crate is an old VLS item and the one on the tank was taken from the spares box and shall henceforth remain unidentified.

M4A3 "Black Panthers" Sherman by Chan Jackson

 After watching several YouTube videos on the 761st "Black Panthers, Chan decided to build a diorama of the group. The model is an Italeri M4A3 shelf queen he built years ago and thought he'd give new life to by incorporating it into this small diorama. 

The jeep is a Testors snap kit. Both vehicles are painted with a base coat of Tamiya Olive Drab and modulated with AK acrylics. They were weathered with oil paints and Mig and AK pigments.

The 761st pigments are from Alpine and the jeep crew and POWs are from an unknown source. All the figures were painted with Scale 75 acrylics.

The building ruin is a Royal Models product.

British Bishop Self-Propelled Gun by Chan Jackson

 Another outstanding small diorama by Chan using the old Alan(ger) Bishop 25-pounder SPG.  Due to its age, the kit was rather hit-or-miss in molding and fit. Since the Bishop was based on a Valentine chassis, Chan borrowed some parts from a Tamiya Valentine to improve the look of the vehicle. On the positive side, the Alan kit did have some nice interior detail. 

The 25-pounder ammunition trailer was also borrowed from Tamiya.

The Bishop and trailer were painted with Tamiya and AK paints. VLS and MIG pigments and AK Dry Soil Weathering were used to weather the scene.

The figures are Scale 75 (with one from an unknown source.) The palm tree was purchased from a Vietnamese dealer who no longer appears to be in business.

Panzer IB Landungsleger by Chan Jackson

 

Chan built this unusual vehicle using Tamiya's newly released Panzer IB kit and the Commanders conversion kit. The Landungsleger was an engineering vehicle capable of delivering a large explosive device on enemy strongpoints and in minefield clearing operations. 

The Tamiya kit of the Panzer IB is an excellent kit which Chan finished with Tamiya paints modulated with the MIG modulation set. He used MIG and Adam Wilder pigments to weather the model.

T3 Christie by Chan Jackson

 Chan converted the Tamiya BT-7 to this 1931 U.S. T3 Christie using the Commanders conversion kit.  He did a light weathering using Mig and Ak products and pigments.

The figure is from the ICM's WWI U.S. figure set.

The U.S. rejected the Christie design whereas the Soviets adopted it and used it successfully in their BT7 and T34 series of tanks.
